No Stagnation Region before the Heliopause at Voyager 1? Inferences from New Voyager 2 Results

چکیده
We present anisotropy results for anomalous cosmic-ray (ACR) protons in the energy range $\sim$0.5-35 MeV from Cosmic Ray Subsytem (CRS) data collected during calibration roll maneuvers magnetometer instrument when Voyager 2 (V2) was inner heliosheath. use a new technique to derive first time radial component of vector CRS data. find that CRS-derived solar wind speeds, converted components vectors via Compton-Getting (C-G) effect, generally agree with those similarly-derived speeds Low-Energy Charged Particle experiment using 28-43 keV However, they often differ significantly measured directly by Plasma Science (PLS) instrument. There are both periods C-G-derived higher than PLS and times lower. The differences not expected nor explained, but it appears after few years heliosheath V2 derived C-G method underestimate true as spacecraft approaches heliopause. discuss implications this observation stagnation region reported along 1 trajectory approached heliopause inferred method.

Titan’s surface and rotation: new results from Voyager 1 images
We present an analysis of images of Saturn’s moon Titan, obtained by the Voyager 1 spacecraft on November 8–12, 1980. Orange filter (590–640 nm) images were photometrically corrected and a longitudinal average removed from them, leaving residual images with up to 5% contrast, and dominated by surface reflectivity. The resultant map shows the same regions observed at 673 nm by the Hubble Space T...
متن کاملMagnetic field studies at jupiter by voyager 2: preliminary results.
Data from the Goddard Space Flight Center magnetometers on Voyager 2 have yielded on inbound trajectory observations of multiple crossings of the bow shock and magnetosphere near the Jupiter-sun line at radial distances of 99 to 66 Jupiter radii (RJ) and 72 to 62 RJ, respectively. While outbound at a local hour angle of 0300, these distances increase appreciably so that at the time of writing o...
متن کاملMagnetic field studies by voyager 2: preliminary results at saturn.
Further studies of the Saturnian magnetosphere and planetary magnetic field by Voyager 2 have substantiated the earlier results derived from Voyager 1 observations in 1980. The magnetic field is primarily that of a centered dipole (moment = 0.21 gauss-RS(3); where one Saturn radius, RS, is 60,330 kilometers) tilted approximately 0.8 degrees from the rotation axis. Near closest approach to Satur...
متن کاملThe galilean satellites and jupiter: voyager 2 imaging science results.
Voyager 2, during its encounter with the Jupiter system, provided images that both complement and supplement in important ways the Voyager 1 images. While many changes have been observed in Jupiter's visual appearance, few, yet significant, changes have been detected in the principal atmospheric currents. Jupiter's ring system is strongly forward scattering at visual wavelengths and consists of...
